Dame Esther Rantzen visited ITS Group on Wednesday 13 July to talk to our students about the issues surrounding Safeguarding.
Dame Esther, who founded ChildLine in 1983, was joined by Adele Gladman as part of a schools tour which will see her speak to hundreds of young people.
ITS Group’s Wally Scattergood was present as she spoke to groups of students about the importance of safeguarding and protocols surrounding safety.
Dame Esther said of her visit: “I talked to them about ChildLine and how it works.
“I got a lot of useful tips from them about ways of spreading the message to teenagers.
“I was pleased that a lot of young people remember the ChildLine number from Primary School.
“We find awareness is high among primary pupils but we need to refresh our ideas when they reach secondary school, as other issues are introduced such as cyber bullying and exam stress.
“In terms of making ChildLine more accessible for young people, I found it very useful.”
