Message from the Chief Executive

terry connollyWe had a positive OFSTED inspection in July and it was particularly pleasing to note that they found we had a good relationship with all our partners.

It was felt that we had a good understanding of local needs and that we are delivering services of good quality to our partners, especially local employers.

We have improved our outcomes year on year and we are above the majority of regional and national targets. We believe we can only get better, especially with your help and would like to thank all our partners for their continued support.

Terry Connolly, Chief Executive

Train To Gain student a frying success..

Margaret Parkinson Currently employed at Deansgate Nursing Home in Mapplewell has completed her level 2 Catering qualification in double quick time.

Margaret was working full time and completing her qualification with a mix of assessor visits and generating evidence from work. She said that “Whilst working at Deansgate I was given the chance to do a free NVQ in Food Processing to which I agreed.

I have enjoyed doing it and have learned a lot and have gained a very useful qualification at the end of it”. Congratulations from everybody at ITS, especially your assessor Ann Gallagher.

Gas fitters are a glowing success

Gas fitters in flying successThis group of apprentice gas fitters have had it tough but have come through glowing. After being unable to complete their apprenticeship qualification due to unforseen circumstances the lads dug in and completed an alternative qualification. This enabled them to become Corgi registered. In addition they passed their Communication, Application of Number and ICT Key Skills qualifications.

Well done to Simon Howe, Dean Hook, Luke Washington & Damon Goulding

Success for Child Care learners!!

Catherine Dyer successful child care learnerCatherine Dyer is one of our successful Child Care learners who have recently passed their NCFE Level 2 qualification through our E2e programme. Catherine has also found employment at Chatterbox Nursery since achieving this qualification and has become a trusted and vital part of their team.

She hopes in time to move onto a level 3 qualification to increase her skills. Catherine started as part of a small group in November 2007 and with support from her Take 2 tutors she successfully passed in July 2008.

A big well done to Catherine and all her fellow learners who passed NCFE and found employment!
