Helen has worked in Barnsley for over 10 years as Chief Executive of Berneslai Homes and in that time has achieved three stars excellent for the Company and attained IIP Gold 6th generation. Berneslai Homes have won numerous awards including winner of 24Housing Landlord of the Year on 2017 and being included in the Sunday Times Best Companies one hundred list as a one star company. Helen herself was awarded 24Housing Chief Executive of the Year in 2015 and is named in the top fifty power players list.

Helen has worked in the public sector for thirty nine years, becoming professionally qualified in housing whilst working for the London Borough of Camden and extended her professional portfolio into Human Resources and Organisational Development with Leeds City Council.

Helen is also Chair of Accent Housing Customer Experience Committee and represents the north on the National Federation of ALMOs’ Board. Helen is a Board Director of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce and is part of the Women in Business group and is Vice Chair at Barnsley College.  Helen's touchstone for Berneslai Homes is "residents at the heart of what we do" and believes Local Authority Housing Companies  have both a strategic and operational influence on the place shaping agenda for communities.  Berneslai Homes are a key partner in delivering the borough’s Housing Strategy which includes housing growth and improving housing conditions and management standards in the private rented sector.

Helen is  also the Chair of the Sheffield City Region Housing Provider Forum which is driving forward the delivery of more new homes in the region.
